Dublin Botanic Garden
Dublin Botanic Garden

Yesterday we finally met my cousin, who moved to Dublin a few months back, but unfortunately I hadn't been able to meet her before (for some reason her number had disappeared from my phone, and the email address didn't work, either!) Well, now we finally got togther. We first took the bus to the city, and see what someone had made: Yes, it is a origami swan made out of a Dublin Bus ticket. It was so lovely, I felt really touched - to make something so beautiful out of such an ordinary and very unaesthetic piece of paper.

Once we got to the centre, we walked up to the Botanic Gardens, where we then met my cousin. The walk around the gardens was lovely, no sound of cars or other noise, just the wind in the trees and a few ducks and squirrel. My cousin told about a redheaded duck which lives in Switzerland, but originally comes from Siberia - oh how I laughed when trying to picture that bird in my head.

Samuel's scarf

This is my newest cast-on project; a red scarf knitted to honor women who've died from heart disease. The pattern is from Accord Publishing's Knitting Calendar, courtesy of Sandra Bennett from  Thistle Cove Farm.

Today it looked so bad outside!

So I thought it's better to stay inside and bake a peach pie.

I think I succeeded in baking a fine pie, since the above picture has been taken ca. 30 minutes after the pie came out of the oven - and remind you there's only two of us eating it. I tried to find the original recipe for the super easy originally-an-apple-pie, but unfortunately I only have it as a copy-paste Word document.

Irland's election

As foreigners we're not allowed to vote, but still need to look at the 'Vote No. 1' pollution every day going to work, coming home, going to the store, in our mailbox... Don't you think that the old saying might have some truth in it: 'Less is More'? election Worsted Knitt now has its own campaign:

Garden

The garden's starting to look really nice - I'm thinking that we'll get fresh salad and spinach in a weeks time, if the weather holds warm and the snails stay away.

Not only I'm happy about the greenery outside and on the window, I'm also planning on making the Go Everywhere Cardigan from our old friend The S'n'B Handbook. I bought a nice pile of old Tiffany-yarn from the net a while ago, and I think it's the perfect match for the cardi - even the gauge is pretty much the same, I'll only need to calculate the row count again.

Knitters meet in Dublin
Knitters meet in Dublin

On Saturday, the long awaited knitting group gathered again.  I don't have the transport to the other meetings around the city during the week, so I'm always very much looking forward to this one.

It was lovely, and despite the bank holiday very popular. We were hiding at the Dublin Castle green area again (the cafe was closed)

It's really lovely out there, but there were a nice amount of ants around... maybe the next time the cafe will be open again.
