Look what Nic did! We got a bread baking machine some time ago, and it's great! The smell of fresh bread, the easiness, the fun of it doing it togehter - a good purchase.
Katsohan mitä Nic teki - hankimme leipäkoneen jokin aika sitten, ja se onkin ollut yksi parhaista ostoksista aikoihin.
In Dublin (Latitude 53 degrees North, Longitude 6 degrees West), middle of November, when the trees have lost their leaves and it frosts in the night, on our neigbour's garden, I saw two roses blooming.
Yay, I got the baby cardi done! All sewed and blocked, just missing buttons, which can wait - I am going to announce it Ready anyway.
For some reason I was unable to make decent photos of it - this is the best one, if you can believe.
This cardi was nice and easy, I worked it on 3,75mm straights, vith Novita Isoveli Moniraita (apparently discontinued) yarn. The gauge was somewhat off the one in the pattern, and I am very proud that it actually came out looking like a garment after my modifications of the decreases etc. I hated the straight needles, though, as I worked both front pieces at the same time, as well as the sleeves, the weight of the work was too much for my neck on straights. Next time I'll use a circular.
I started a discussion in Ravelry about this topic :

A NEW dispute has flared between the wool industry and animal welfare groups over the production of Australia's prized ultra-fine wool.
The State Government's Animal Welfare Advisory Committee meets today to discuss the issue of sheep kept in single pens in sheds for up to five years to produce the world's finest fleeces, a practice pioneered in Victoria.
They are fed a minimal diet and confined to protect their fleeces in order to produce the finest micron wool, which often fetches record prices from high-end fashion designers in Europe, particularly Italy.
There is a competition on the Knitters Coffeeswap 3 site , the idea is to post a still life photo of coffee and yarn. I posted this.
This post is to remember the Jokela School Shooting victims, and acknowledge the pain of all their relatives, the shock of the whole Finnish nation.
I lit a candle when I heard, said a prayer for all the victims. It was a terrible tragedy.
Anyhow, I watched Bowling for Columbine this weekend. It may have been painful to see right now, but I watched it and I hope all of the Finnish government have seen it or will watch it in times to come.
See, my fear is that Finland will follow USAs footsteps and try to tackle these kind of problem and violence by more and more control of the students, of schools, installing metal detectors and hiring security guards in schools. Let me ask - has that helped the US? Is there less violence now? Not one bit.
I've been knitting some Calorimetrys as gifts, and hopefully I will be able to give some to Ompelukerho - women's action group for animal welfare - so they could sell them in the Christmas fairs. I am still waiting for the designers' answer, as I am not / no one is allowed to sell them without the designers permission.
Olen tehnyt jokusen näitä Calorimetry -päähineitä lahjoiksi, ja toivottavasti saan kaavan suunnittelijalta luvan lähettää niitä Ompelukerholle joulumyyjäisiin myytäväksi.
Me, too, went to the Knitting and Stitching show in Dublin RDS last weekend. It was my first time there, and I had heard a lot about it.
I thought it was nice, expensive, but quite ok. Most knitters do say, though, that it was much worse this year, than ever before.
Well, I paid dearly to get in, 15 euro is a bit much I think, but there were a lot of nice exhibitions and guilds presenting their work in there. Also many sellers, even though I really didn't go there to buy stuff, but to have a nice day at a knitting fair.
There was not so much knitting there as I had thought and hoped. We'll see, if I am in Dublin next year,I might go or not.
I did meet some of the Feltmakers Ireland members on their stand, having a felting presentation. I took a look, and decided to buy the beginner pack. So on Sunday (I went to the show on Saturday) I packed out the stuff.
