Here some more impressions from Creativa, the gorgeous craft fair in Dortmund, which I visited last Wednesday.
First the coolest ones. A lovely picture, no? But look at pic two: it's made with cross stitching! This was part of a Latvian stitch art exhibition, and I must say I was really impressed!
There were many interesting pieces from Latvia, but I just photographed this one, because I found it so fascinating.
The third and the fourth picture are similar: you first see some nice pictures, and then you come closer - and you notice they are knit!
How marvellous is that!
Now, click "Read more" to see some mathematical quilting!
I had Wednesday off work this week; I still had a day left of holidays 2008, and if I don't use it by the end of March, it's gone. So we originally thought, Nick and me that is, thet we'll go to Düsseldorf and see some sights. However, Nick got ill and stayed in bed that day.
I had read about the craft fair Creativa on Ravelry, and it happened to start on the Wednesday. And when the weather decided to very sightseeing-unfriendly, I made up my mind and headed to the fair in Dortmund.
I'm so behind on blogging my projects! Somehow there's been so many other things to do lately than blogging...
But, I'm slowly working the queue down. First in line is the Star Crossed Slouchy beret (Ravelry) which I finished maybe two weeks ago - and have been wearing it since!
It's so soft and lovely, and fits perfectly! I made it with 4,5mm needles (ribbing) and 5mm needles (the rest). The yarn is Mirasol Miski, 100% baby llama yarn! You can imagine how soft that is..! The colour is Wine. I will definately be using this yarn again, it was really nice to work with and (did I already mention) really really soft!
I took part in the Ravelry Finnish knitters -swap (or am still taking part, as my package has not yet been sent) and received a gorgeous packet from Norway, from Nunt.
I got the book I've been wishing for, some Kool Aid (also a long-time wish of mine!), a gorgeous pattern for cabled fingerless mitts and the yarn to go with it. I was really happy to receive the gift and thanked Nunt at Ravelry.
She then told me there should have been a skein of banana silk and chockolate in the packet too! I inspected the bag, and indeed at the bottom it had been slit open and then closed with tape! I wonder if it was the Norwegian post or the German customs who had the need for some yarn and sweets... Well I sure hope they enjoy their catch... not!
After the Hamster month I think I got a bit carried away ordering yarn... let's see what we have here.
First the actual reason for ordering: Malabrigo lace. I'm taking part in a swap, and decided to send my partner some lace yarn. Plus I've been planning to try some lace myself, too. So two skeins for me in gorgeous green (colour Forest) and two skeins for the partner in another lovely colour!
There's no point in odering just four balls of yarn, is there? So I got some other things I liked too.
Some local yarn in orange, plant-coloured and organic sock yarn in a similar colour. The picture is really bad, the colours are much more orange and stronger!
The Darfur group at Ravelry has been moderating the Pencil cases for Sudan -KAL/CAL since the beginning of the year. The results are great - by the end of January we had about 50 cases done and sent to HELPSudan, I don't even know how many we have now!
But the KAL is not over yet. It will end on the 31st of March, so now's the time for the last push (or better said knit).
To give you all a little extra incentive to finish your pencil cases, or cast on just a few more, there'll be a voting on the most beautiful pencil case in the KAL's Flickr group with some lovely prizes!
And I knit 1 kilo 611 grams in it - in one month, February! I can hardly believe it. That's a lot for me. This was a really fun knitalong and I will certainly take part next year too.
Here are my last two FOs in February.
First the gorgeous, gorgeous Chevalier socks by Tikru. I made the exactly following the pattern, with some mistakes. The yarn is from Villa Laurila, from the nearly-extinct breed Ahvenanmaanlammas. I used 3mm needles, and the socks weigh 124 grams.
I love these socks. I hardly take them off, they're so warm, but not sweaty, snug, but not too tight. Really lovely FO, the trouble was worth it!
