A while back I made myself some yoga socks. They've been really useful and I've been using them now and then. After we got the Wii Fit board, Nick wanted some for himself too. So I whipped up a yoga sock following the directions for thicker yarn. However, the sock was a little bit too small, so I had to modify the pattern.
Yarn used: Regia Solid 6-ply, and Regia Solid 4-ply doubled for the stripes.
Needles: 3mm
Modifications: I cast on 52 stitches instead of 42, worked 14 rows of 1x1 rib, then 26 rows of 2x1 rib (where the last rib was 3x1 as 52 doesn't divide through 3...). I cast off 28 for the heel, and obviously cast on 28 too. The foot I did as advised, only I didn't cast off in rib but plain knit, as I found this reduces the ribbing from spreading out too much.
A little bunny for Easter! Actually, he's been done for a few weeks now - this was my March "small item" - I made myself a small item club last December: I basically packed a pattern and yarn for a project into a paper bag and labelled them one per month, and now I'm knitting them one per month! It's really fun!
So this fellow was made in March, I just haven't gotten round to posting about him before. The yarn is Schachenmayr Micro Bamboo - 50% bamboo and 50% acrylic microfiber. I used maybe 30 grams of the yarn! I knit the body on 3,5mm needles and the head with 2,5mms. The pattern is "Bunny Blanket Buddy" from Lion Brand free patterns
He will most likely be given to charity at some point.
The Pencil cases for Sudan -KAL me and the Ravelry Darfur group have been moderating has now come to an end. We had a voting going for the most beautiful pencil case at Flickr , and I counted the votes some days ago. You can see the winners at Ravelry or at Flicr - so beautiful pencil cases!
HelpSudan seems happy with our efforts too. I've asked them if it's ok to keep sending cases, but haven't got an answer yet.
I'll be taking the pencil case pattern links off the side bar for now, and add them into a post under the category "Patterns". The side bar tends to get so long otherwise.
I hope you had a good time making pencil cases, and hopefully we'll get some more action going later on as well!
Here are all the pencil case patterns for the now-passed KAL "Pencil Cases for Sudan". Some are crochet pencil case patterns, some of them are knitting patterns.
Please note! I only designed the Moss stitch pencil case, the others are just linked here and I claim no ownership of them.
Please do not use any of these patterns for commercial purposes other than those benefitting Sudan or Darfur.

You know how the scraps and half-balls just seem to become more in the deep corners of the stash closet, and before you know it the rest-bag is full again? I do. Therefore from time to time I have to make some kind of scrap project to clear the bag out.
The Finnish webzine Ullaneule made a special scrap issue in 2008. From there I found this lovely and fun bag project Raisa Raitakassi. Easy enough to take with to the knitting group, creative enough to be interesting: how to make the stripes work, how to change gauge. Here's the info:
I take part in activity called "Random acts of Kindness", mainly through the groups on Ravelry. One posts a wish list of things one wishes for, and some one else can then send these items (or thoughts or anything) to the wisher, without getting anything back or getting money. Someone else might then send something for this person.
I've been really blessed with two gourgeous big gifts lately. First, Clarissa from US/Italy sent me a skein of banana silk yarn, and KoolAid. I only took a photo of the yarn though, it's so gorgeous! I don't know what to do with it yet, though. Any ideas?
The second beautiful packet arrived from Finland, from Muoriska and contained four (!) balls of Novita Wool, which I like a lot (it's great for hats!) and a box of chocolates - on the cover it says "Life is like a box of chocolates". I found that lovely!
Updated 07th January 2012!
I found this site a while back and thought the idea was great - but didn't do anything at the time. Now I came across it again, and thought why not? I've been looking for a direction to my life, and it is known to me that I work best towards goals.
So here's my list. I will be updating it here, and blogging about special reached goals. I think I'll add a link to the side bar for this, so one can easily find it, and also add a "101" tag to the postings. So, but now the list:

I've been requesting and getting Kool Aid as "Random acts of Kindness" from many lovely people lately, and decided now's the time to try how they work.
I've dyed with Kool Aid before, but only in a microwave, a machine I don't have at the moment. So stovetop here's looking at you!
I followed the advice on Knitty and first dyed some white sock yarn with three bags of Orange and two bags of Tropical Punch (that's red). I think they came our really nice and happy looking!
This must be the millionth Clapotis in the world. But it's mine, and it's beautiful.
I started and almost finished it in one weekend, that being the long weekend we travelled to Bavaria to see Nick's parents - that means altogether 14 hours in a train, and relaxing at their place in between!
The yarn is Noro Kureyon sock yarn in colour S185, and I knit it on 4,5mm needles to make it loose and drapey. That worked fine! I followed the advice without any mods, and am quite happy with the result!
The shawl took just a bit of the second ball of Kureyon - I wonder what should I do with the rest? I think it's too beautiful (and scratchy) for socks. A mini Clapotis?
