I wrote a long text about the "long night of the museums" in Düsseldorf, which we attended a few weeks ago, but it mysteriously (ok, ok, I admit, I messed up) disappeared. So instead of writing it all again, I'm just going to show you the pictures.
For info, during the long night of museums many museums, churches, galleries and exhibitions are open until 2am and there are many special happenings throughout the night.
We saw some modern art, Chinese ink drawings, short films about cinema, a remake of an old video art work "Il Nuotatore (va troppo spesso ad Heidelberg)" by Studio Azzurro and a very lovely Iranian golden peacock (see picture below).
I'm getting better and better in baking, I must say. The first one, an apricot cake, was gone in one day, and the last slice of the rhubarb pie only hardly made it to the next day. Ond we're only two people in the house!
It's finally done! According to my Ravelry bookkeeping I started it in December.
Here are the stats:
Pattern: Corona by CanarySanctuary.
Needles: 4mm circulars; the main one was 80cm, plus I used another one when starting the cable panels. I can't remember how long that one was, but it's not important anyway!
Yarn: Bright red, really cheap acrylic from NKD
One of my 101 in 1001 goals is finished (well, it's not the only one, but the only I've got photos of)
Me and Nick went to Kettwig some time ago. Kettwig is a small town, now a part of Essen, but previously a town of it's own. There's a lovely old city center, and a river, along which it's really lovely to walk on a sunny day. Unfortunately I forgot my hat, so we couldn't walk too long, as I get sun sick if exposed to the sun too long, so we headed back to Essen quite quickly. Short but lovely visit!
I don't know what I thought when I packed the April small item last year. I had packed some Regia Galaxy sock yarn, and a pattern for yoga socks which calls for DK yarn!
As I had recently made yoga socks I decided to find something more suitable for the Galaxy yarn. I found a pattern in Ravelry called LIR Galaxy, which was designed for this yarn, and seemed fun enough.
Stats:
Needles 2,5mm dpn's
Yarn: as stated, Regia Galaxy
Pattern mods: I had some trouble understanding the pattern, mainly I was too lazy to read it through, so I made some modifications. I made the back increases differently, plus I didn't omit the ribbing in the foot.
I should have made a bit more ribbing in the beginning, the socks slouch a bit, but other than that I like them. The yarn even made some galaxies!
Two weeks back me and a few friends from the Essen kniting group went to one member's place to have fun and dye.
She had set up everything at the back yard, so we won't mess up the house. There was also bread and salad to eat, plus chocolate of course. How lovely!
So we got started and everything went fine, before it started drizzling and the weather got quite chilly. We persistantly kept on dyeing, and the rain pesistantly kept on coming down, so at the end we were almost as wet as the yarn! Just take a look at the sun parasole in the microwave picture! (press Read more if you can't see it)
In the end, the results were gorgeous, as you can see. Everything got dyed, and after three pots of tea we started to feel dry too, and sat around talking for several hours more.
