Remember the banana silk yarn I received as gift a while back? I finally cast it on, ancdvery quickly cast it off too, as it knits up really quick!
I made the Juicy banana silk scarf (Ravelry link) and even though it calls for two hanks of the yarn, I managed very well with just one, I just left the tassels off and made the scarf a bit shorter - I reckon it measures two meters. I made it with 8mm needles.
I think the shawl / lace bug has bitten me. I've never knit shawls before, and now I've made two already this spring.
Ok, admitted, this one was started in January, so it was not really a quick knit. It rested for a few months, I think I took it up again in April or so.
I used Sandnes Garn Kitten Mohair, ca. 2,5 balls, that is around 130 grams. My needles were 6mm and the pattern is Fifi from Ullaneule - only in Finnish unfortunately! The pattern says to cast of when there are 22 squares, but I cas off after 21: the shawl was big enough, and 21 is my lucky number! The cast off is a bit too tight (I did the k2tog, place stitch back on needle cast off) but I figured it just makes the shawl sit better at the showlders!
Too bad it's now too warm to wear it! I'll take it to use when autumn comes.
I made a few little knits for charity. Originally I wanted to give them all to the Essen animal shelter but then ended up giving only the big bunny and the bookmark-socks. The idea is to sell these knits for the benefit of the shelter. They haven't sold yet, but I hope they will. I also donated a cat bed I made a while ago, it was bought immediately! I'd better get making more of them.
The book is called "Alles zuviel" in German, which ist just the translation of "It's All Too Much " basically. This interesting book name made me take the book with me from the library a few weeks ago. I read it in one day, and after reading it cleared two plastic bags full of clothes to donate out of my closet, got rid of quite an amount of paper, packaging materials, and other trash, plus sorted one more bag full of items to donate (like old computer games, books, even some yarn). I even sorted out my patterns!
As you may have read, I'm getting married this month. I have a gorgeous sleeveless dress, so I needed to knit something to cover up in case it was cold. So I made an Ishbel shawl. It's gorgeous, just perfect! I am so proud of myself for knitting lace, with actual laceweight yarn! By the way, that's one off my 101 list, which I've just updated. But now back to the shawl!
The specs:
Pattern: Ishbel like mentioned, the larger size.
Needles: 3,5mm circular, not specifically designed for lace or anything.
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace in colourway "Forest", ca. 60 grams, so just over one skein!
Started in April, finished early June 2009.
Modifications: none whatsoever.
I adore this shawl and I really hope the wedding day will be suitable for wearing it!
