Yet another shawl! I'm getting rather good at making them I must say. This Revontuli (check Ravelry for English pattern) sure looks good!
I followed the pattern precicely, I just left some rows out because I didn't have so much yarn. Well, actually I would have had so much I later noticed (my hand is so loose that I always need much less yarn than recommended) but it doesn't matter, the shawl is small and beautiful as it is.
The yarn is Kauni, and I used 110 grams of it. It was knit on 5mm needles, mostly during the trip to Southern Germany to get married at the end of June!
Just to show a few of my recent small finished objects which I did during the Kesäyön hullutus-KAL.
The mice are from Donna Druchunas' book Cat Knits, and I've made many of them previously as well. I still like the pattern a lot, plus the yarn (Ecologico Color by Schachenmayr) is really nice to work with. I got 5 and a half mice out of one ball (you might notice one of the mice is smaller - that's the half mouse!) I made them on 6mm needles and felted them in 30 degrees cotton program: my washing machine seems to be very efficient when felting, if I use over 30 degrees the knits overfelt!
So, I'm back from holiday and before I get my Finland and Sweden pictures organised, I'll just show that I'm alive and kicking by posting a recent FO which I call the Dramatic wrap shawl.
There's nothing dramatic about it besides the colour, though. I followed a pattern but it's actually just the same stitch I used for the Banana silk scarf. I used approximately 200 grams of Novita Rustika yarn and 10mm needles. I'm planning on using it as a scarf/shawl and as sleeves, I just need some nice ribbon to tie the sides together.
I freely admit I love these quick, simple big needle projects sometimes!
I'm still working on the perfect cat bed. This is not yet it! But at least it's fluffy and cuddly! I'll give it to the animal shelter for sale later on.
I used odd balls of fluffy yarns, that's all I can say about the yarn. Some I got from the shelter, some I had in my stash. I made the bottom in one piece, like the bottom in Princess Snowball cat bed from Stitch'n'Bitch, and then picked up stitches along the sides. I used 6mm needles.
It still doesn't stand up right, but I keep trying!
First, however I'll enjoy my holiday! We'll be travelling to Finland through Sweden, starting tomorrow! So I'll be back in 2 weeks time with some lovely phots from Finland I hope!
Finally, finally I get to show this! I kept forgetting and then the wedding came and and..!
But here it finally is. My lovely first-ever knitted t-shirt. Let's look at the specs:
Pattern: Easy Peasy Tee
Yarn: Junghans Opal in petrol blue, 3,5 balls, that is 175 grams.
Needles: 4.5mm circular, 60cm long.
Mods: My gauge was something quite different from the original pattern, so I CO 128 stitches for size medium/large and adjusted the other numbers accordingly (like left only 10 stitches between the side stitch marker and the PINK stitch marker when doing increases and decreases instead of 20). I also shortened the tee a bit by leaving out one decrease to the waist.
Very easy and quick knit!

I'm taking part in a crazy Finnish KAL called "Kesäyön hullutus", which translates to "summernight's folly"! The idea is to start a new project every day from the 1st June to the 20th of June, and finish all these projects by the end of July! I joined on the 6th, so I have a few less to do, but still... so therefore small projects are the best in this challenge!
I think preemie hats are the perfect small projects one can make. They're easy, quick and very useful (I'll be sending them to charity).
Just wanted to say a quick sorry - I haven't been blogging much the last week or so, and won't be either, maybe (hopefully) with the exception of this week (even though it's really too hot to think!)
You might have heard, I got married last Saturday! That has kept me busy, plus we travelled to the wedding location last Wednesday, came back on Monday and now on Thursday I'm slowly cathcing my breath. But that's not all - on 14th July we'll be heading to Sweden and then Finland for a good week.
I'll try to put up some wedding pics this week, plus blog a lovely tee I knit for myself and which has been finished for several weeks already. Just keep coming back :)
