Just popped in to say that our server is full and I can't load another picture up at the moment! As this is a knitting blog, it's a bit boring to post without any pictures, so things might be a bit slow the next days/weeks till we get the server sorted. I could do book reviews though... keep coming back, I'll have some nice content for you soon!

As part of my 101 in 1001 goals I had taken the goal to start sponsoring a child or an animal. Well, at the end of July I had then finally decided to start sponsoring a girl in Sierra Leone, the poorest country on Earth through Plan International. Very soon after I had contacted Plan though the Internet, I received the details of my sponsired child, the 5-year-old Kadiatu. She looks like a happy child in the photo I received and I'm really happy to be supporting her and her community.

If you have the means, I really recommend sponsorship to everyone. I feel so good knowing that I'm really helping someone that otherwise would hardly have a chance in life.

Yarn from Finland
Yarn from Finland

I thought you'd like to see the yarn I got from Finland in July. Here it is (and that's all - I didn'z go crazy this time!)

First the Schoeller+Stahl Elfin Color acrylic and mohair mix. I felt a bit silly buying German yarn in Finland, but it was in sale and I haven't seen it here, so I just took it with me. Later I found out it has been discontinued . I bought three balls, even though there were four left in the shop. I still regret not buying the last one! I think I'll be making a shawl out of this at some point.

I also bought some (=three balls) new Sandnes Garn Kitten Mohair, the same yarn I made my Fifi with. I really liked working with this yarn; it wasn't itchy or splitty, and you can knit it with big needles (the Fifi was made on 6mm needles and in my opinion that is a good size for this yarn when making a lacey shawl (which most likely this yarn will end up becoming).

I'm still working on the Finland pictures, but currently I've just been so busy! The bureaucracy and the thank you cards after the wedding, my acting hobby at the local theatre (premiere next month!) as well as work just seem to take up all my time at the moment. So I'll just need to show you something that's been finished for some weeks already... sorry! But I'm sure you'll like this one too.

Here are the actual specs:

Pattern: until lace egding my own calculation of a basic pinwheel pattern, the lace pattern from Cinnamon Bay (Ravelry link, a pattern from book "Knitting in the Sun")
Needles: 4mm dpns and circular
Yarn: Plaetzsch Nadja cotton 4-ply got got as a present, at least five 50 gram balls.

Read this book. Seriously, if you are a woman and haven't read this book, you should. It wouldn't hurt men either. It's such an eye-opener to the theme beauty and how it's not at all as it's usually percieved. The book is almost 20 years old, but it's still current and important.
