Why endless? Let's just say these were my September small item!
I've been wanting to make these mittens for a long time, ever since I saw Lien working on them some years ago when we both lived in Dublin. So I packed them as one of my 2008 "small items club from stash" and started working on them last September. Boy were they slow to knit! It felt like I knit and knit and knit and have finished a few rows only. I even took them to work one day and knit through a telephone conference! Somehow I did manage to finish them in the end, and I do like them a lot. But I doubt I'll be taking on small gauge colourwork projects on in the near future!
I'm back! I hope you all had a great Christmas?
I'll see if I'll post some pictures from Paris, but first I'll just show you some of the Christmas presents and a pair of funny socks I made.
The green adult booties are for my sister and her husband. The pattern is by Ysolda, and they're so quick and easy I decided to make them as presents this year. I already had one pair ready from October so I had good choice trying to figure out which booties had the best size for the gift receivers!
The booties are knit with vintage superwash wool held double on 5mm needles. The smaller pair is European size 39-40, and the bigger one should fit a foot quite a lot bigger! They took approximately 100 grams of yarn per pair, and that's held double! Really nice.
My dear readers, tomorrow morning me and Nick are heading to Paris for a well-deserved little break, and will then continue on to spend Christmas at Nick's parents. That means I'll be offline and back to blogging no sooner than the 28th December!
I wish you all happy holidays and merry Christmas!
PS: I finished my Owls! But I'll tell you more after Christmas :)
There are still more stitch markers I'd like to offer you! I hope you like them.
If you'd like to buy a set or two just leave your email address and a note which ones you'd like in a comment. I'll remove your email from the comment once I've answered you. However, if you'd prefer not posting your email you can use the contact form (see right sidebar).
The prices for the following stitch markers (including postage):
Germany 6e
For EU, US and other countries it won't make any sense to send just one set of these markers, as they are thicker than your nomal markers and will cost a fortune to send. If you'd like to buy two or more sets (or a shirt or a bag from Shirtsofberlin.de), the postage will become more reasonable. Please leave your contact details and we'll work something out!
My new hobby, I might even say passion is making stitch markers. I know loads of knitters like to make stitch markers, and who could blame them! They're small, beautiful and useful, great for using them yourself or giving them as small presents to knitting friends. That's what I've been doing up until now. Now I thought, I might try selling a few.
I'm aware that my markers are not perfect, but they're pretty and according to user comments snag free. Here are some for you to see. Here it is. Finally! I bought the yarn for it in March, and finally I have started knitting my Owls sweater.
Due to my loose hand and Marks&Kattens Eco Ull yarn (lovely organic 100% wool) I'm knitting on 5mm needles instead of 6,5. I'm still working the L size, hoping that my gauge will match the one given! If not I'll need to lose a few pounds!
Oh and the Irish knitters are having an Owls KAL at the moment, so I'm kind of secretly joining them :)
I just watched this great animation called "Breakfast" by Kris(tina) Hofmann, a UK designer. It's about losing the connection with the food we eat, and made really well! Please watch it at Vimeo, it's only three minutes long bu really powerful!
I've had these ready for a good while now, and finally I get to blogging about them!
The first knit is the Puro-tube. The original pattern is from Novita, but I modified it like SatuH did, meaning I didn't double the yarn and cast on 110 stitches. It was knit during a week of illness in bed, with 5mm circular needles. I used a bit less that three balls of Novita Puro (what a lovely yarn!), that is ca. 130 grams.
The second knit is the smaller Ishbel shawl. I made the bigger one for myself for my wedding and had almost one ball of Malabrigo lace left after it. So I knit the smaller Ishbel for my mother's 66th birthday. She loved it!
