Gasometer
Gasometer

The weather here has been good for the last weeks - the weekdays are cold, but come weekend, it's 20 degrees and sunny! As today was the same, clear skies and warm enough to wear a t-shirt, we (= me and DH) decided to take advantage and take the train to Oberhausen, a neighbor city, and visit the Gasometer, which was also one if my 101 in 1001 list items.

Eskimimiknits is hosting a blog-along for knitters and crocheters next week, starting on Monday 26th of April. The idea is that individual bloggers can day by day post about the same topics, so that readers can read different viewpoints on the same theme from blog to blog, bloggers and readers alike can enjoy a creative community talking about their craft.

It sounds like lots of fun, so I will be joining. I also have a plan of my own to organise something not quite similar, but bringing knitters together nonetheless. Watch this space for more news during the spring!

Oh, and please stop by often next week! You can find other participants by searching for the tag knitcroblo in a search engine.

Froot Loop socks

I notice again and again that I hardly ever show WIPs on my blog. Is it because I find WIPs so difficult to photograph in a pretty way, or that I usually finish my small knits so quickly that I don't have the time to blog them while they're still WIPs, I don't know. But I do know I probably won't be finishing these in the next few days, so why not show them to you already.

My April small item from stash is/are the Froot Loop socks. I've just started them and seem to be making god progress. It's so weird to knit socks after a long pause. These small, fiddly needles! The thin yarn! But I'm getting the hang of it again. Also the soy sock yarn feels really good, even though I'm not so crazy about how the striping is coming out.

Swap on a budget
My Vampire Boyfriend socks

I came home today and had three packets waiting for me! In one were a rice cooker and the complete Absolutely Fabulous series which I had ordered a few days back. In the second one was the book Custom Knits - a surprise present from a friend of mine! I'll write a review on it later.

But the third package was my Swap on a budget swap packet from Norway! Take a look at all the goodies in it.

Twilight Gloaming
Nick in Miyajima wearing the Eccentric sweater

Now, do you want to see what I knit during my Japan honeymoon? Here it is. A Zauberball and the pattern for the Twilight Gloaming shawl. Progress during holiday: 0 stitches! Concidering I knit on my wedding day, that gives a strong sign that I found our holiday super interesting!

But do take a look at that second picture - looks familiar? It is Nick's Eccentric sweater! I'm so happy he liked it so much to take it along and wear it during the holiday.
