101
In 2009, I made my first 101 goals in 1001 days list, which I continued to refer to during the last 2,5 years. I wrote a wrap-up of it a few days ago, and now it's time for the next list. With no further ado, here it is for all to see & keep me accountable!

12. Bike tour in the Ruhr area
On 11th of April, 2009 I posted a list of 101 goals I wanted to reach during the next 1001 days. And behold, on the 2nd of January 2012 these 1001 days were through. Such a long but still such a short time - about 2,5 years.
Throughout the years I kept coming back to these goals, and actually finished the majority of them. I updated the list (see it here) the last time a few days ago, and here are the results:
Reached: 52+4 (from bubbling under list)
Abandoned officially: 4
Partly reached of failed: 45+2
Makes a ratio of 52/49! Successful - with a small difference, but still!
On the 8th of January 2011 I made a list of Knitting Resolutions for 2011 (see the original post here). I haven't forgotten about them, nor abandoned them, but actually made some progress on them!
See for yourself:
1. When obtaining yarn, focus on ecological, reclaimed, and / or second hand yarns.
Well, I didn't rock this resolution, but I did decent. I've made some t-shirt yarn of my own, and received a lot of second hand yarns this year. When I bought yarn, though, I didn't really think of the ecological aspect.
2. Knit a sexy thing
I knit a pair of hotpants!
3. knit a Drupal hat
I missed this goal
4. knit a linen shawl
I started it, but haven't finished yet!
5. knit real gloves and
I missed this goal
I think it's time to publish my knitting goals for 2011. 2011 is the last year of my 101 in 1001 list, that means the knitting goals I have listed there must be finished this year. Therefore most of my goals will be from that list, but I also have a few new things, or goals set higher than in the 101 list. Let's take a look:
- Stashbust 100 balls from stash
- Get and keep stash under 5 kilos
Why this? As you might have noticed I've read a lot about minimalism and decluttering the last year, and have as result started striving towards a life with less stuff and more experiences. For that, the now 11 kilo stash is just too much. I want to be able to fit all my yarn into the three bins I have bought for the stash, and I want them nicely filled, not overflowing. My guess is, to achieve that the stash should be under 5 kilos.
On Saturday we had a WWKIP (World Wide Knit in Public Day) meeting in Bochum, which is a neighbor city to Essen. So I packed myself up well (it was freezing) and took the train to Bochum. I first went yarn shopping a bit (more about that later) and then at three headed to the meeting in the cafe in Bochum city park.
There were a few knitters I knew from Essen, and many I didn't know from Bochum, Dortmund and surrounding cities. Plus, there was the amazing camel Dumistvieh, whom you can see in the third picture!
The weather here has been good for the last weeks - the weekdays are cold, but come weekend, it's 20 degrees and sunny! As today was the same, clear skies and warm enough to wear a t-shirt, we (= me and DH) decided to take advantage and take the train to Oberhausen, a neighbor city, and visit the Gasometer, which was also one if my 101 in 1001 list items.
Now, do you want to see what I knit during my Japan honeymoon? Here it is. A Zauberball and the pattern for the Twilight Gloaming shawl. Progress during holiday: 0 stitches! Concidering I knit on my wedding day, that gives a strong sign that I found our holiday super interesting!
But do take a look at that second picture - looks familiar? It is Nick's Eccentric sweater! I'm so happy he liked it so much to take it along and wear it during the holiday.
As you may have read, I'm getting married this month. I have a gorgeous sleeveless dress, so I needed to knit something to cover up in case it was cold. So I made an Ishbel shawl. It's gorgeous, just perfect! I am so proud of myself for knitting lace, with actual laceweight yarn! By the way, that's one off my 101 list, which I've just updated. But now back to the shawl!
The specs:
Pattern: Ishbel like mentioned, the larger size.
Needles: 3,5mm circular, not specifically designed for lace or anything.
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace in colourway "Forest", ca. 60 grams, so just over one skein!
Started in April, finished early June 2009.
Modifications: none whatsoever.
I adore this shawl and I really hope the wedding day will be suitable for wearing it!
One of my 101 in 1001 goals is finished (well, it's not the only one, but the only I've got photos of)
Me and Nick went to Kettwig some time ago. Kettwig is a small town, now a part of Essen, but previously a town of it's own. There's a lovely old city center, and a river, along which it's really lovely to walk on a sunny day. Unfortunately I forgot my hat, so we couldn't walk too long, as I get sun sick if exposed to the sun too long, so we headed back to Essen quite quickly. Short but lovely visit!
Updated 07th January 2012!
I found this site a while back and thought the idea was great - but didn't do anything at the time. Now I came across it again, and thought why not? I've been looking for a direction to my life, and it is known to me that I work best towards goals.
So here's my list. I will be updating it here, and blogging about special reached goals. I think I'll add a link to the side bar for this, so one can easily find it, and also add a "101" tag to the postings. So, but now the list:
