stashbuster

This is the second year when I'm knitting from my stash (not exclusively though!) with the Ravelry Stash knit down group, in particular the Personal Small Items "club". The idea is simply to (before the year) starts pack one small project per month -yarn from stash plus pattern- and work these projects month by month.

For a little swap hosted by the Ravelry Finnish stashbusting group I knit this red hat. The pattern is called Slouched Tuva hat and it's a really simple, lacey free pattern. And so quick to knit! It took me maybe two evenings to finish the hat.

So, I'm back from holiday and before I get my Finland and Sweden pictures organised, I'll just show that I'm alive and kicking by posting a recent FO which I call the Dramatic wrap shawl.

I did use a pattern for this, I just can't remember which one! Anyway, meet my glorious ruffle boa! I knit it on 6mm long, long circular. I started out with 90 stitches, then increased every stitch every other row. The yarn is appropriately Bernat Boa (which was terrible to knit with I must say!)

More Hamster knitting! I made a hat for me, and a hat just for fun.

First my hat. It's the Rinsessa pattern from Ullaneule-web magazine (in Finnish). I made one of these as a Christmas present and just loved making and trying it on, so it was clear I need to make one for me too.

This Hamster month KAL has really kicked some stashbusting energy in me. I've been knitting like crazy the last week. Let me show you what I've done.

've had these finished for a while now, but always forgot to blog them. Well, here they are now, the Cat socks and the Freeform blanket, previously seen here as WIPs.

The cat socks were just the nicest and quickest knit! I learned fair isle, and got myself a pair of warm socks, not to mention all the yarn is from my stash.

I'm stash busting this year, and the quickest, funnest way I can do that is knitting funky scarves. I have made many of these already, with different yarns and needle sizes, and while I had nothing really easy to knit on Friday (I wanted just something really really easy!) I started a new scarf. I finished it on Sunday. Here it is.

To knit from the stash - in which there is a lot of tiny amounts of acrylic novelty yarns - I developed this fun scrap scarf: basically knitting stripes longways across the scarf, and making up the sequence as I go along.

I originally made one for a Christmas present, and it was such a fun bit of easy knitting, I made another one, which I finished today.
